2022 Meeting of Heads of BRICS National Standardization Bodies kicked off

On November 24, the 2022 Meeting of Heads of BRICS National
Standardization Bodies was held both online and in-person.
As the current pandemic
overlaps with changes unseen in a century, the global governance system and
international landscape are under readjustment, and the world economy recovery
remains anemic, BRICS countries agreed that, against the backdrop of
unprecedented challenges, as important representatives of emerging market and
developing countries, should continue to cooperate on standardization, maintain
the smooth flow of global supply chains, boost green and low-carbon
development, delivering global recovery. At the meeting, representatives
emphasized that under the new situation, it is more important to uphold the
spirit of "openness, inclusiveness and cooperative development",
improve the cooperation mechanism of standardization, promote innovation and
green development through standardization, and create a new era of global
development.
UNIDO highly appraised
the achievements of BRICS countries and expressed its willingness to join hands
with BRICS to promote the standardization for green and low-carbon growth, to
achieve a robust, greener and healthier global development through the
perspective of standardization.
